AI social media marketing that stays on brand and inside the rules

Our AI social media marketing consulting sets out how your team should use AI across social channels: which platforms to prioritize, what to post and how often, who approves what, and which platform and FTC rules apply. It is for US marketing leads and owners who want more output from a small team without fake engagement, mislabeled content or a restricted LinkedIn account. You get a channel plan, a content system with AI drafting built in, an approval workflow and a reporting setup.

Quick answer

How should a business use AI for social media marketing?

Use AI social media marketing tools to draft, repurpose and resize content, analyze performance and summarize comments, while people own strategy, approvals, replies to customers and anything posted from a personal account. Back it with a written approval workflow, the platforms' AI labeling rules and a monthly report tied to leads, not likes.

  • AI drafts and repurposes; a named person approves every public post before scheduling.
  • Meta, TikTok and YouTube each have their own rules for labeling AI content.
  • We never automate LinkedIn accounts, because LinkedIn's own rules prohibit it.
  • Reporting tracks leads and pipeline from social, not only reach and likes.

Where does AI help most in social media marketing?

AI helps most with the production work around a post: turning one long piece into many short ones, writing caption variants, resizing creative, drafting alt text and summarizing what commenters say. It helps least with judgment calls, like how to answer an angry customer or whether a trend suits your brand.

Sprout Social's 2025 Index reported that 81% of social marketers say AI has had a positive impact on their daily work. In planning, we look for where that impact would land in your team: which hours go into resizing, rewriting and reporting, and which go into ideas and conversations. The first group is where AI belongs.

  • Repurposing a webinar, podcast or blog post into clips, carousels and captions.
  • Drafting platform-specific caption variants for a person to review.
  • First-pass graphics in Canva and short video edits in CapCut.
  • Summarizing comments and DMs into weekly themes for the team.
  • Pulling monthly metrics into one report with a plain-language summary.

Which channels and posting cadence should we plan for?

Pick the two or three channels where your buyers already spend time, then set a cadence your approval process can sustain. Posting more than you can review is how off-brand or inaccurate posts slip out.

Hootsuite's posting guidance, based on 2025 data, suggests roughly 3-5 Instagram feed posts a week plus Stories, 1-2 posts a day on Facebook and on LinkedIn, 2-3 a day on X and Threads, 3-5 TikToks a week, and at least weekly on Pinterest and Google Business Profile, with quality ahead of quantity. We treat those numbers as ceilings, not targets. A B2B services firm often does better with LinkedIn and Google Business Profile done well than with six channels done thinly.

What does an AI social media marketing approval workflow look like?

A sound workflow has three gates: AI drafts, a marketer edits, and a named approver signs off before anything is scheduled. Higher-risk posts, such as those mentioning prices, results, health or a customer by name, get one extra check.

We build this inside the tools you already use. Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer and Later support drafts and approval steps, and a shared calendar in Google Sheets or Notion works for smaller teams. The workflow records who approved each post, which prompt and source material produced it, and whether an AI disclosure was needed. That trail lets you explain later why something went out.

04

What are the AI labeling rules on Meta, TikTok and YouTube?

Each platform asks you to label realistic AI-generated or altered content, and each applies labels of its own. Your approval checklist should include a disclosure decision for every post that uses synthetic images, video or voice.

  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) applies "AI info" labels, renamed from "Made with AI" in July 2024, detects C2PA and IPTC signals, and requires users to disclose realistic AI-generated content. Ads made with Meta's AI tools also show "AI info".
  • TikTok requires creators to label realistic AI-generated content and is reported to auto-label content carrying C2PA Content Credentials.
  • YouTube requires disclosure of realistic altered or synthetic content, such as a real person shown saying something they did not say, but not for animation, beauty filters or help with scripts and captions. Repeated non-disclosure can lead to labels, removal or suspension from the YouTube Partner Program.
05

Which FTC and LinkedIn rules affect AI social media marketing?

FTC rules on endorsements and reviews apply to AI-made content exactly as they apply to human-made content, and LinkedIn bans automation outright. Both shape what we will and will not recommend. This is not legal advice.

The FTC's revised Endorsement Guides, effective July 26, 2023, require material connections with endorsers to be disclosed clearly, and advertisers can be liable for what endorsers say. The Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, announced August 14, 2024, bans fake reviews (including AI-generated reviews from people who do not exist), buying or selling fake followers or views, and undisclosed insider reviews.

LinkedIn's help center says it does not permit third-party software, bots, browser plug-ins or extensions that scrape or automate activity, and accounts that use them risk restriction or shutdown. So our plans use AI to draft LinkedIn posts and comments, and people post, comment and connect themselves.

06

How do you measure AI social media marketing results?

Measure social by what it does for the business: sessions from social, form fills, booked calls and pipeline attributed in the CRM, alongside reach and engagement. We also track production metrics such as hours per post and approval turnaround, since that is where AI should show up first.

We tag links with consistent UTM parameters, set up GA4 and CRM source fields to capture them, and build a monthly report comparing AI-assisted output with your earlier baseline. If saved hours are not turning into better posts, or better posts are not moving leads, we change the plan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can AI run our social media accounts on its own?

We do not recommend it. AI is good at drafting and repurposing, but a person should approve every public post and handle replies to customers. Fully automated posting raises the risk of off-brand, inaccurate or unlabeled content.

Do I have to label AI-generated images on Instagram?

Meta requires users to disclose realistic AI-generated content and applies "AI info" labels, including when it detects C2PA or IPTC signals in a file. We add a disclosure decision to your approval checklist so the call is made before posting, not after a label appears.

Is it safe to use LinkedIn automation tools?

LinkedIn's help center says it does not permit third-party software, bots or extensions that scrape or automate activity, and accounts that use them risk restriction or shutdown. We use AI to draft posts and messages, and a person posts and connects from their own account.

Can we use AI-generated reviews or testimonials?

No. The FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule bans fake reviews, including AI-generated reviews from people who do not exist. AI can help you request reviews from real customers and summarize real feedback, but it cannot invent the reviews themselves.

Which tools are best for AI social media marketing?

It depends on team size and channels. Common choices include Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, Later or Metricool for scheduling, Canva and CapCut for design and video, and ChatGPT or Claude for drafting. We test the shortlist on your own content before you commit to a subscription.

How much does AI social media marketing consulting cost?

We quote one fixed price after a free review, based on channels, team size and how much setup you want us to handle. Our AI consultant cost guide lists published consulting ranges, and software subscriptions are billed to you by the vendors.
